Our Purpose
The Virginia War Museum Foundation is the fundraising and advocacy arm of the Virginia War Museum. Our mission is to secure private support that ensures the museum’s ability to preserve priceless military artifacts, educate the public, and honor those who served.

The mission of the Virginia War Museum Foundation is to conduct both private and public fundraising efforts, as well as community engagement activities, to support the ongoing programs and future growth of the Virginia War Museum.
Our Story
The Foundation exists to honor veterans, preserve history, and serve our community — so that the Virginia War Museum not only survives, but thrives. We believe the lessons of military history are essential to civic understanding, patriotism, and appreciation for the freedoms we enjoy, and that government funding alone cannot sustain an institution of this importance.
That belief shapes everything we do: protecting the stories and artifacts entrusted to us, supporting innovative education programs for students and families, recognizing veterans and their families through remembrance, and connecting local, regional, and national communities to this shared mission.
