The Virginia War Museum Foundation was created in 1987 to serve as an adjunct organ of the Virginia War Museum. The responsibilities of the Foundation include general fund raising to assist in specific projects at the Virginia War Museum, Lee Hall Mansion, and Endview Plantation. The Foundation also assists with specialized artifact acquisitions, and provides volunteer assistance and expertise in the restoration of major artifacts and the design and construction of new exhibits. The goal of the Foundation is to help make the Virginia War Museum the premier museum of American military history in Virginia. The Foundation supports a variety of educational and recreational programs such as the annual Lee Hall Wine Festival, the Christopher Newport University Military History Writing Contest, and numerous Civil War living history events. Join the Foundation, or make a tax free donation now, and help the Virginia War Museum Foundation achieve its goals.
